Mrs. Shirley ‘Jean’ Norman Floyd, 75, of Sanders Road, Dewy Rose, wife of 50 years to the late Darrell Bailey Floyd, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at home following a battle with cancer.
Jean was born in Elberton on March 18, 1948, daughter of the late Reginald Bond Norman and Ruth Adams Alexander Norman. She was a member of Liberty Congregational church. Jean worked at the Iva Sewing Plant for 20 years and retired as a setter from Torrington/Timkin in Honea Path. In her free time, Jean enjoyed reading and traveling to the mountains. She especially enjoyed visiting casinos and gambling.
Surviving are her son, Darrell Steven “Shack” Floyd and Christel of Elberton; sister and best friend, Faye Harris and her husband Don of Modoc, SC; grandchildren: Shana (Justin) and Chan; niece, Toni; great-nieces: Alexis and Kaylie; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Howard Reginald Norman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, from 7:00-9:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 18, at 11:00.am. from the graveside in Forest Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating.
