Shirley Wilder McCannon

Shirley Wilder McCannon, age 79, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at her residence.

Shirley was born in Elberton to the late Thomas Wilder and Mattie Bell Brackett Wilder.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward McCannon; son in law, Dewey Hubbard; daughter in law, Rhonda Scarborough McCannon; and siblings, Elizabeth Partain, Ruth Morrison, Jeanette Davis, Guyrine Bordua, Patricia Barnes, Vera Farrow, Pauline Hatton, Lucille Partain, Charlie Wilder, and Maxine Burdette.  

She is survived by her two daughters, Sherri Dunson (Jesse) of Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Sara Hubbard of Stephens; two sons, Tony McCannon of Elberton and Troy McCannon (Darlene) of Honea Path, South Carolina; grandchildren, Justin McCannon, Grant McCannon, Travis Hubbard, and Devin Hubbard; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends in the chapel of Hicks Funeral Home from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday.  

Funeral services and committal will take place at 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with her cousin, Reverend Tim Adams officiating.  Burial will be private in Palmetto Christian Church Cemetery in Oglethorpe County.  Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Clarke Davis, Andrew Farrow, Eugene Partain, David Mattox, Travis Hubbard, Devin Hubbard, and Kevin Parker.
