Skye Chatham Hammond, 35, of 444 Elberton Road, Lexington, wife of John Hammond, went to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at her home. Born on April 7, 1975, in Anderson, South Carolina, she was a 1993 graduate of Elbert County Comprehensive High School. Skye is preceded in death by her grandparents, Harlan Frederick Strang, Morris and Lucille Bailey Chatham, and James Norris and Eurel Adams Webb. Survivors include her husband of the home, John Hammond; children, Haily Hammond and Russell Hammond, both of the home; mother and step-father, Dee and Jimmy A. Webb of Elberton; father and step-mother, George and Marcia Chatham of Hartwell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lara C. and Kem Caldwell of Carlton, Kira C. and Tal Swygert, and Brandye W. and Robbie Childs, all of Elberton; grandmother, Norma Strang of Anderson; step-brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Wanda Mitchell of Roswell; nephews, Brandon Seymour, Tanner Moore, Bailey Caldwell, and Christian Mitchell; and nieces, Cassidy Childs, Dorianne Caldwell, and Camdyn Childs. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends between the hours of 12noon and 2PM on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Hicks Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2PM from the Chapel of the Hicks Funeral Home with the Reverend Russell Bruce officiating. Cremation will follow the service. At other times, the family will at the home of her mother and step-father, Dee and Jimmy Webb, 2171 Norris Webb Drive in the Harmony Community. Flowers are optional and those desiring may make donations to the Haily Hammond Benefit Account at any North East Georgia Bank Branch in Skye's honor. The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Bailey Caldwell, Kem Caldwell, Robbie Childs, Tanner Moore, Brandon Seymour, Tal Swygert, and Pammy Webb.
