Sue Davis Segers

Mrs. Mattie Sue Davis Segers, 82, of Elberton, wife of the late James Grover Segers, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Segers was born in Elberton on May 18, 1936, daughter of the late James Robert “Bob” Davis and Janie Elizabeth Gunter Davis. She was a homemaker and attended Elberton Church of God.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Stacy Carroll of Elberton; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Lisa Segars of Central, SC; sister, Lucy Segars of Elberton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death her son, Robert Lewis Segars; brothers: James, William, Walter, J.B., Clinton, George, Deal, David, and Joe Davis; sisters: Mammie Lou Cothran, Carrie Mae Grimes, Janie Lee Johnson, Leacy Bell Segars, and Sara Mae Davis.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, February 27, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. James Gunn. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. Andy Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Glenn Segars, Justin Segars, Jake Driver, and Kevin Driver serving as pallbearers and Reed McCarty and Alex Tiller as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday evening.
