“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Mrs. Susan D. Williams Webb, 70, of Elberton, wife of Bobby Webb, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She courageously fought cancer and its side effects for twenty-three years, but never allowed the disease to steal her smile and sweet disposition.
Born in Elberton on July 23, 1954, Susan was a daughter of the late Lorton Duckworth Raines, Ima Jean Wilder Raines, and Barry Laquin Williams. She was a 1973 graduate of Elbert County High School and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
In her early years, Susan worked as a beautician, having owned and operated Family Style Shop. She later went to work at Brown Transport and Claude Ray Ford Company, before going to work in the granite industry. She worked at Everlasting Granite Company for 25 years and was presently the bookkeeper at Quarries, Inc.
She loved fellowshipping with her Iota Master sisters at Beta Sigma Phi, of which she was a member for many years. Susan enjoyed working alongside Bobby gardening, proudly canning and putting up the fruits of their labors with love. Her greatest possession was her family. Affectionately known as “Nanny”, she selflessly put her family as her number one priority always. Nanny looked forward to hosting events and was always planning the next before the other was complete. Susan never missed an opportunity to eat out, or to take a trip to the beach – with a special love of Fripp Island and Tybee Island.
Surviving, in addition to her husband Bobby, are her sons and daughters-in-law: Jason and Karyn Webb and Clint and Tonya Webb, all of Elberton; grandchildren: Kylee Webb, Jaynee Webb, and Sam Koshman; great-grandchildren: Jaylee Fredregill, Hunter Fredregill, and Noah Bailey; siblings: Annette Lovin, Pam Pearson, and Cathy Dennis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Eddie Williams and Martha Cromer.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Susan's life will be celebrated during a funeral service on Saturday, May 3, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, officiated by the Revs. Eric Lovin and Tim Adams. Interment will follow in the cemetery at Antioch Baptist Church with Clinton Johnson, Curtis Dennis, Donovan Dennis, Joseph Pearson, Michael Madden, William Webb, Hunter Fredregill, Dean Addison, Tracy Kishman, Jimmy Webb, and Kerry Partain honored as pallbearers.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Antioch Baptist Church, 2479 Antioch Church Rd NW Dewy Rose, GA 30634
