Ted Dye

Mr. Ted Dye, 83, of 1744 Flatwoods Road, Elberton husband of Henrietta Smith Dye passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dye was born September 20, 1930 in Elberton, GA to the late Clarence L. Dye and Sula Atkinson Dye. He was a member of Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church, a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, former Elbert County Board of Commissioner and owner operator of T&T Tires in Fortsonia where he retired. He loved to farm and spend time in his garden but above all his passion was his family. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of the home Henrietta Smith Dye, daughters and son-in-law; Tamara & Jeff Butler; Jeannine Dye all of Elberton, GA; sisters Mildred McCart of Clarkesville, IN; Clara Baldwin of Douglasville, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law Raymond & Brenda Smith, Ruby & Cal Albea; grandchildren Wesley Dye, Haley Butler, Luke Butler, Laramy McCannon and one great-grandchild Wesley McCannon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons Tim "Timbo" Dye, Darrell Dye, siblings George Clark Dye, Curtis Dye, Ruby Nell Stevens, Morgan Dye, Gene Dye, Donald Dye, Roderick Dye and Willie Sue Malcolm. Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, July 15 at 7PM in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Hart officiating. Private family burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The Dye family will be at the home on Flatwoods Road and will receive friends from 6-7PM Tuesday night at Berry Funeral Home prior to the service.
