Thomas Jerry "Tommy" Giles

Mr. Thomas Jerry “Tommy” Giles, 62, of Gordon Road, Lexington, entered into rest on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at his residence.

Tommy was born in Perry on December 13, 1960, son of Louella Tate Mattox and the late Jerry Giles. He worked as a tankerman on the Mississippi River for many years and later worked in the construction industry. Tommy was a simple man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life - hunting and fishing. He knew that you only had one life and you best live it to the fullest - and he did just that, never missing an opportunity to have a good time.

He is survived by his children: Michael Thomas Giles and his wife Ashley Giles of Lexington, Melinda Lee Lane and her husband Joseph Lane of Colbert, Matthew Paul Giles of Lexington, and Mitchell James Giles and his wife Destiny of Lexington; step-daughter, Mellisa Hicks; mother and step-father, Louella and Roy Mattox of Lexington; siblings: Mary Elizabeth Giles of Louisiana and Johnathan Henry “Johnny” Giles of Colbert; twelve grandchildren who loved their “Poppa T”: Rileigh, Raina, Rosetta, Raylan, Trey, Trent, Taylan, Triston, Tyler, Persephone, Alister, and Eizen; nieces and nephews: Crystal Dugas, Jonathan Giles, and David Giles; and his beloved pet, Shovelhead (Bubs B).

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 9, from 2:00-2:45p.m. at Word of Life Church in Colbert. Funeral services will follow at 3:00p.m. with the Rev. Herman Nation officiating. Entombment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the Tommy Giles Go Fund Me benefit account.
