Mr. Thomas Clark "Tommy" Johnson, 91, of Elberton, died on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Hartwell Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Johnson was born in Elbert County on July 19, 1932, youngest of two sons of the late William Hainey “Willie” Johnson and Valeria Adams Johnson. He was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Global Methodist Church. Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After serving his country, he returned home to Elberton where he went to work at Elberton Mills and later worked in the granite industry for many years.
Being such a smart business man, he established 72 Marine Sales in the 1970s. He was also the “J” in P&J Small Engines for quite some time before gifting his part to Vickie. One of Tommy’s favorite pastimes was riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Glenn Parham of Elberton; and son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Patsy Hill Johnson of Elberton. He was known as “Daddy J” to his grandchildren: Cory and Emily Parham, Kyle and Mia Parham, Bentz and Jillian Johnson, and Bain and Alyssa Johnson; and great-grandchildren: Adaline, Kelton, Ashlyn, Ansley, Sawyer, Sutton, and Shiloh. Also surviving are his nieces: Trudy Johnson King and Tammy Johnson Fortson, both of Elberton.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, George Lee Johnson; and niece, Laura Johnson Carrington.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 19, from 10:00-10:45a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Bethlehem Global Methodist Church. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. John Moore, will follow at 11:00a.m. in the Church Sanctuary. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
