Thomas Owen Chambers

Thomas Owen Chambers, age 88, of Dahlonega, GA passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.
 
Thomas was born in Gainesville, GA on July 3, 1927, the son of the late Owen and Thelma Glover Chambers and was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Sell. He lived in Dahlonega as a young boy before moving to South Georgia and lived in Tignall, GA for many years before moving back to Dahlonega nine years ago. Thomas worked at Sears for many years and also served in the Merchant Marine. He was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church. He enjoyed the last nine years of his life spent in Dahlonega with his wife, Dorothy.
 
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ridley Cain Chambers, Dahlonega, GA; children, Ann Thornton, Washington, GA and Lynda Mooney, Norwood, GA; T.J. Cain Jr, Dahlonega, GA and Sue Sykes, Gainesville, GA; sisters, Betty Nix and Nell Duncan. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 3 PM until 9 PM and again on Friday from 10 AM until 4 PM.
 
Funeral services for Thomas are scheduled for 4 PM Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA. Rev. Terry Head, Rev. Lyman Caldwell, Rev. Kris Butler, and Rev. Lamar Day will officiate.
 
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Elberton, GA with Rev. Arthur Key officiating.
