Evans Funeral Home announces the death of C/ Sgt. Major Tile O. Hall, age 86, of Jefferson Georgia, who entered into rest Saturday February 7, 2015. Mr. Hall was born in Bowman Georgia (Elbert County) November 11, 1928. He was the son of the late John Brooks Hall and Eunice Booth Hall. T.O. attended Bowman High School. Soon after graduation, he joined the United States Army. During his military career his overseas assignments included: Tokyo, Japan, various locations in Korea, and Heidelberg, Germany. Served as Inspector General of the Army for the State of Alabama. While in Heidelberg, he was stationed at the USAREUR Headquarters and retired from his military career in 1967. At that time, he returned to Jefferson and worked at the Department of Agriculture Experiment Station in Athens. Later he became the assistant administrator of BJC Hospital (now Northridge) in Commerce. He was manager of First Federal Savings Bank (currently Wells Fargo) in Jefferson. He helped to organize the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department and served as treasurer of this organization for many years. He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he served as; Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of Pastor Parrish, Senior Adult Sunday School Teacher and Leader of M.Y.F. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two of his sisters; Sara Jo Hall of Bowman, Charlotte Hall Gaulden of Rock hill, S.C. and brother, Johnny Hall of Rock Hill, S.C.. Survivors include his wife of fifty six years, Lavenia Wier Hall, a sister, Faye Hall West and her husband H.E. West of Bowman, a special niece, Rayne Maxwell of Bowman, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends. The family will receive visitors and friends at Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson, Georgia on Tuesday, February 10, Noon – 2:00 P.M. with services beginning at 2:00,in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Mike McLemore, Reverend Dugar Strickland and Nephew Bobby Gaulden officiating with internment with full military honors to follow at Evans Memory Gardens. Honored to be pallbearers are nephews; Weston Maxwell, Hall West, William Howington, Danny Wier, Phil Thurmond, Gene Harper, Doug Thurmond, David Wier and Dwight Wier.
