Tommie Scoggins Christian, 90, of 1398 Antioch Church Road Talking Rock, GA formerly of Elberton widow of the late Joe Marion Christian passed away Sunday April 3, 2011 at Sonshine Manor in Jasper, GA. Born in Pelzer, SC July 3, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Tom and Bertha Hall Scoggins. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ellijay, GA and was a homemaker. Left to cherish her memories are daughters and son-in-laws Delaine and Ken Burton of Talking Rock, GA; and Marian and Jim Nolley of Watkinsville, GA; sisters Geneva Thomason of Williamston, SC; and Lila & Franklin Barnes of Dalton, GA; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters Grace Maxwell, and Pauline Scoggins, and a brother Milton Scoggins. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held Friday April 8, 2011 at 2PM at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. K. Christian Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 12-2PM Friday just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home. The family has requested please in lieu of flowers to make memorials in her honor to the Oconee Senior Center 3500B Hog Mountain Road Watkinsville, GA 30677.
