Wilton Ozelle “Tommy” Whitworth, 80, of 1051 Ruckersville Road, Elberton, husband of Doris Daniel Ridgeway Whitworth, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Whitworth was born January 4, 1933, in Lavonia, Georgia, to the late Hubert and Cordelia Ina Thrasher Whitworth. He was of the Church of God faith, a member of Elberton VFW Post #5456, and retired from the U.S. Air Force. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 17 years, Doris Daniel Ridgeway Whitworth of the home; three children, Barrett Whitworth, Deborah Sapp, and Audrey Ibrahim, all of Warner Robins; nine step-children; forty-three grandchildren; sixty-eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, John Whitworth, Rosetta Sanders, and Margie Casey. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, January 22, at 2PM in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Darrell Ridgeway, Eric Berryman and Karen Greenway officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. The Whitworth family is at the home 1051 Ruckersville Road and will receive friends from 1-2PM Tuesday just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.
