Troy Pruitt Nix

Mr. Troy Pruitt Nix, 89, of Elberton, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Comer Health & Rehab. 

Mr. Nix was born in the Rose Hill section of Franklin County on October 4, 1934, son of the late James Nix and Lois Mildred Stancell Bennett. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a stone cutter in the granite industry. 

A man of great faith, Troy was a member of the Elberton Church of God and never missed an opportunity to witness and spread the love of Jesus. He faithfully led a Bible study at the nursing home while he was a resident there. Troy was a simple man who never met a stranger.

Surviving are his brother, Clark Bennett and his wife Doris of Hull; niece and caretaker, Pattie Lord and her husband Danny of Comer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Henry Bryant O’Dell, Mattie Williams, Ramona Morgan, and Marie Simmons. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 3, from 10:00-11:00a.m. at Berry Funeral Home. At Troy’s request, a brief committal service will follow at the funeral home and burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery next to his mother.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to Elberton Church of God, 1026 Hartwell Highway, Elberton, GA 30635.
