Valerie Denise Jackson

Miss Valerie Denise Jackson, age 49, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Augusta, Valerie spent the majority of her life in Elberton. Her mother, Sandra Wadene Jackson, her grandparents who raised her, James and Essie Jackson; her grandmother, Bertha Walton; and aunt, Helen Willis, preceded her in death. Valerie attended Elbert County Schools and was active in Special Olympics. She was Baptist by faith and attended New Era Baptist Church with her grandmother. Valerie remained a permanent optimist who shared her kind, loving, and generous spirit with all of those around her. Her infectious giggle and caring nature will forever be remembered. She had been a resident of Hope Haven in Athens for many years.

She is survived by her father and step-mom, Frederick Walton and Louise Walton; brother and sister-in-law: Frederick Walton, Jr. and Rikina Walton; sister: Amanda Walton; aunts and uncle: Francine Allen, Mahalia Downer, Matilda Perrin, Terry Ann Walton, Wendy Walton, Jeanette Carter, and Phillip Walton; special cousin, Jennifer Dean; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an aunt Bessie Walton.

Funeral services celebrating Valerie’s life will be held on Sunday, May 29, at 3 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Public viewing will be the held on the day of the service. Interment will be in Lincoln Heights Cemetery.
