Mrs. Velma Hulme Stovall, 92, of Elberton, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at her home. A native of Elberton, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Osborn Hulme and Janie Warren Hulme. Mrs. Stovall retired from the City of Elberton, where she had worked in the Water Purification Department. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stovall was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Cordell Stovall, her daughter, Cordelia Stovall Moore; a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Avery Moore; a brother Joel Hulme; two sisters, Homerzell Craft and Sandra Burgess; and one infant brother. Mrs. Stovall is survived by a son, Jack C. Stovall, Jr. and his wife, Dina; her sister: Carol Ratliff of Marietta her brothers Edwin “Buddy” Hulme and Jerry Hulme, both of Elberton; her grandchildren: Jeff Moore, Russell Moore (Kaylee), Brent Stovall (Jennifer), Dena Partain (Kerry) all of Elberton, Clint Bowen of Athens, and Chad Moore (Kendra) of Powder Springs. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Madison Moore, Makenzi Moore, Liam Moore, Brayden Moore, Samantha Stone, Tyler Stovall, Lexie Partain and Jade Partain; and her great-great grandchildren: Stella Stone, Brentson Stone, and Easton Stovall.Her greatest joy was loving her family and she cared deeply about each and every one of them. There will be a drive-in service Saturday, May 16th at 3:00pm at Rock Branch Baptist Church, with Rev. Kevin Vaughn officiating.A private graveside committal will follow in the church cemetery.Russell Moore, Chad Moore, Tyler Stovall, Clint Bowen, Kerry Partain and Bren Stone will serve as pallbearers.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Moore, Brent Stovall, Jerry Hulme, Buddy Hulme and Allen Hulme. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rock Branch Baptist Church, 2150 Coldwater Rd., Elberton, GA 30635, or to the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Hicks Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
