Vercel "Jimmie" Simmons White

Vercel "Jimmie" Simmons White, 80, of 1094 Old Beacon Light Road, Hartwell, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012, at her residence. Ms. White was born in Danielsville, Georgia December 24, 1931, to the late Willie and Hassie Hammond Simmons. She retired from the Hartwell Garment Company as a seamstress. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and husbands, Brenda and Ed Cleveland, Patricia Pace, Bobbie Rape, and Peggy and Monty Merrell; brothers, Willie D. Simmons and Joe Simmons; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Katherine Bryant, Myrtle Hall, Elizabeth Hutchinson and brothers Reese Simmons and Turnes Simmons. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 1PM Friday, December 14, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Reverend Leon Suttles officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Ed Cleveland, Glenn Cleveland, Michael Rape, Monty Merrell, Robert Wayne Simmons, and Eddie Boswell honored as pallbearers. The White family is at the residence, 1094 Old Beacon Light Road, Hartwell, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6-8PM Thursday evening.
