Mr. Vernon Vaughn, Jr., 79, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home. Mr. Vaughn was born in Elberton, son of the late Vernon E Vaughn and Inez Turman Vaughn.He was the husband of Shirley Burden Vaughn, with whom he had celebrated 55 years of marriage.Mr. Vaughn retired from the granite industry as a stonecutter for Universal Memorials. He was of the Holiness Faith.He loved farming and gardening, and his retirement allowed him to pour his time into those efforts. In addition to his wife, Shirley, Mr. Vaughn is survived by two sons: Timothy David Vaughn, and Paul Vernon Vaughn and wife, Michelle; and a granddaughter, Taylor Vaughn.He also leaves behind his brothers: Calvin Vaughn, Curtis Vaughn, and Bobby Vaughn; two sisters: Beth Oglesby and Mary Ann Bradford; and several other extended family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vaughn was also preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Vaughn Moore. A Graveside Service to celebrate Mr. Vaughn’s life was held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Elmhurst Cemetery, with Rev. Tommy Darracott officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children at 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
