Violet Moon Payton

Violet Moon Payton, 82, of 500 Millstone Church Road, Carlton, widow of Grady Robert Payton, died Friday, February 11, 2011, at her residence. Mrs. Payton was born in Elbert County, July 20, 1928, a daughter of the late Joseph Marion and Minnie Mae Boswell Moon. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Greenwood, South Carolina and was a homemaker. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Buddy Bell of Carlton; sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne Payton of Greenwood, South Carolina, Roger Dale Payton and Clyde Lee and Mae Payton, all of Elberton; sisters, Mae Hill, Edna Joyce Franklin, Vernell Rhodes, Susie Dixon, Rosa Huff, and Betty Jane Huff, all of Elberton; ten grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held Sunday, February 13, at 2PM in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Reverends Jack McVeigh and Douglas Huff officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 1-2PM Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
