Virginia "Jenny" P. Graham

Mrs. Virginia “Jenny” Porterfield Graham passed away at Pruitt Health Spring Valley in Elberton, Georgia on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the age of 89.Mrs. Graham was born on March 2, 1927in Oglethorpe County to Onnie and Mary Frances Tiller Porterfield.She is preceded in death by her husband of 38 wonderful years, James P. Graham; son, James Len Graham; brother, Kenneth Porterfield; and two sisters, Hazel Bishop and Martha Hart. Mrs. Graham was retired as a bookkeeper for Madison County High School.She was an active member of Carlton Baptist Church her entire life. Mrs. Graham is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Graham Thompson and Keith Thompson of Carlton, GA;her daughter-in-law, Mary Graham of Comer, GA; sister, Onzetta McCannon (Lane) of Comer, GA; three grandchildren: Gina Thompson Cope (Bobby) of Grayson, Leah Graham King (Billy) of Danielsville, and David Thompson of Conyers; seven great-grandchildren: Michael, Bradley and Garrett Cope of Grayson,and Logan, Brayden, Annalee, and Baylee King of Danielsville. A time of visitation for friends and family was held on Saturday, April 16 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home.A service to celebrate Mrs. Graham’s life was held on Sunday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. in Hicks Funeral Home Chapel.Rev. Billy Meeks officiated and music was provided by Mrs. Julie Meeks.Interment followed at Carlton City Cemetery. Pallbearers were: David Thompson, David McCannon, Kyle McCannon, Jacob McCannon, Zachery McCannon, and Lane McCannon. Arrangements for Mrs. Virginia “Jenny” P. Graham were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
