Walter Watson Davis

Walter Watson Davis, 76, of 1392 Whites Chapel Road, Elberton, husband of Sara Ann Dutton Davis, died Friday, January 28, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Davis was born May 23 1934, in Elbert County, a son of the late James Robert and Janie Elizabeth Gunter Davis. He was retired from Coggins Granite Company as a stone polisher and was of the Church of God faith. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sara Ann Dutton Davis; children, Sara Frances Driver, Elberton, Douglas Davis, Anderson, Perry Davis, Elberton, and Danny Davis, Elberton; sisters, Lucy Segars, Elberton and Mattie Sue Segars, Elberton; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brothers, James, William, J.B., Clinton, George, Deal, David, and Joe Davis; sisters, Mammie Lou Cothran, Carrie Mae Grimes, Janie Lee Johnson, Leacy Bell Segars, and Sara Mae Davis; great-grandchild, Samuel Kyle Davis. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held Sunday, January 30, at 3PM at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Reverends Todd London and James Gunns officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family is at the home, 1392 Whites Chapel Road, Elberton, and will receive friends from 6-8PM Saturday night at Berry Funeral Home. Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made in his honor to a charity of your choice. Pallbearers will include Roger Segars, Dan Segars, Keith Ingram, Bobby Davis, Buck Segars, and Mike Davis.
