Wanda Joyce McConnell England

Wanda Joyce McConnell England, age 72, passed away in Elberton, GA, on Saturday, June 3, 2023.   

Wanda was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on June 7, 1950 and was the first of 7 children born to Louise Victoria McConnell and Carl Richard McConnell. Family moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida when Wanda was a child, and she lived there most of her life until illness required nursing home assistance. 

Wanda worked at the famous Egg & You Diner in Ft Lauderdale, Florida for 40 years – from 1979 until her retirement in 2019. Wanda always said going to Egg & You was really going to see all her friends! 

When Wanda wasn’t working, she loved spending time with her many dogs (Layla and Jake are pictured with her), reading all things fantasy & science fiction, amassing an amazing collection of penguins, and spending time with her family! 

Wanda is survived by her 2 daughters, Michele Link of Pompano Beach, FL and Jennifer England of Mint Hill, NC;  brothers and sisters, Wayne McConnell of Boca Raton FL, Sheila Wolf of Elberton GA, Donna Rosellini and Leah McConnell of Pompano Beach FL, Carla Fulford of Umatilla FL, and Justin McConnell of Tuckahoe NY; numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was also proud Grandmother to her 4 Grandchildren, David Graham, Holly Link Lemmons, Margaret Aurora Gibbins, Jordan Celeste Gibbins, as well as her 3 Great Grandchilden, Zachary Graham , Delilah Lemmons, and Talia Graham. This, she always said, made her “Immortal”.   

Family will be having a private spreading of ashes over the ocean, which will be handled by her daughter, Jennifer Joy England.
