Mr. Waymon Worley, 73, of Washington Highway, Elberton husband of Sandra McLanahan Worley passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Worley was born August 23, 1942 in Elberton, GA to the late Ernest Silvey "Hard Rock" Worley and Kathleen Smith Worley. He was a member of Eliam United Methodist Church, a member of the Elberton Elks Lodge for 33 years where he served as Exalted Ruler for 5 years, a member of the Athens Elks Lodge for 11 years. He was past District Deputy for the Grand Lodge for 2 terms. Waymon was also very active in the Elberton Salvation Army where he was a member of the Executive Board, Finance Committee and also on the Disaster Team. He was the former owner of M&W Laundry Mat, S&W Granite Company and Richards Restaurant. Waymon enjoyed going on Mission trips with the First United Methodist Church and the Salvation Army once to Honduras, and twice to Belize and Ecuador. Waymon's greatest passion was being a devoted husband, father, grand-father, great-grand-father and friend. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 52 years in December Sandra McLanahan Worley; daughters and son-in-laws Ivy and Mike Brooks of Elberton, GA; Amy and Ken Rice of Dewy Rose, GA; Katy Worley of Elberton, GA; grandchildren Zachary Brooks, Mackenzie Brooks, Lindsay Rice, Brayden Rice and one great-granddaughter Myleigh Rice. Memorial services to celebrate Waymon's life will be held 4PM, Sunday September 27 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Emily Case and Dr. Wallace E. Wheeles officiating. The family will be at the home 1443 Washington Highway and will receive friends from 2-4PM Sunday just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made in Waymon's honor to the Salvation Army of Elberton 262 N McIntosh St, Elberton, GA 30635 or the Elks Aidmore Children Center 2394 Morrison Rd SW, Conyers, GA 30094.
