Wayne Douglas Smith

Wayne Douglas Smith, 66, of 2386 Sims Drive, Marietta, GA. Passed away on January 9, 2011. Wayne was born and raised in the Palmetto, community of Lexington, Georgia. He was the son of the late Howard Jackson and Syble Evelyn Tiller Smith. He was a member ofMasonic Lodge 228 in Norcross, Georgia. He was a 6 year veteran of the Elberton National Guard, 214th Field Artillery. He worked locally in textiles for a number of years before moving to the Atlanta area. There he was in management and later founded and was the owner of Smith’s Roofing and Remodeling until his retirement. Wayne is survived by his wife of the home, Peggy Nix Smith, his sister and brother-in-law, Janelle and J D Waters of Elberton, brothers William H. Smith of Elberton and Howard Smith of Carlton, many nieces and nephews and God-Children, Derek, Diana, and Jessica Cannon of Marietta. Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Brian Kyle Smith, sister Jacklyn Bivins Smith Graham, and brother Harry Wagner Smith. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Jan. 15th at the Hicks Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 14th from 7 to 9 PM.
