W.E. "Buddy" Martin, Sr.

Mr. William Edward “Buddy” Martin, Sr., 81, of River Road, Elberton, GA, passed away at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center on Thursday, November 1, 2018, 24 years to the day after his son Eric passed away.

Mr. Martin was born on July 8, 1937, in Detroit, MI to Robert Lee Martin and Cynthia Louise Allgood Martin. He was a member of Believers Baptist Church, a retired stone polisher in the granite industry, had worked at the Elbert County Recycling Center, and was a retired National Guard Veteran who served his country for 31 years.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Laura Martin of Elberton, GA; sister and brother-in-law: Bobbie Sue and Roy Kidd of Elberton, GA; grandchildren: Kayla Martin Smith, Eli Martin, and Ben Martin; and two great-grandsons: Brantley Smith and Cole Smith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lane Campbell Martin and a son, Eric Alvin Martin.

Funeral services to celebrate Buddy’s life will be held 3PM on Sunday, November 4, at Believers Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Dotson, Pastor Franky Ridley and Rev. Bobby Baston officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family is at the home, 2876 River Road, Elberton, GA, and will receive friends from 1-3PM on Sunday prior to the service at Believers Baptist Church.

Flowers are optional and memorials can be made in Buddy’s memory to the Elbert County 4-H Shotgun Team, 1088 Ruckersville Road, Elberton, GA 30635 or to Believers Baptist Church, 89 E. Clairmont Avenue, Elberton, GA 30635.
