Funeral services for Clarence Webster Spivey, Jr., age 92 will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Dublin First Christian Church, with interment to follow at Northview Cemetery. Rev. Billy Glosson will officiate. Mr. Spivey was born on June 4, 1921 in Baldwin County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Clarence Webster and Mary Bellah Paschel Spivey. He has lived in Dublin since 1955. He was self-employed as a Plumbing and Heating Contractor. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Navy. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a Mason. Mr. Spivey passed away on October 17, 2013 at Fairview Park Hospital. " Webb " was an avid golfer. He loved his golfing buddies. He loved to play his saxophone and wrote two beautiful songs for his beloved Frances. He was a wonderful cook and taught this to his grandchildren. He was a grand and colorful character much loved by all who knew him. Mr. Spivey is survived by his loving wife, Frances Martin Spivey of Dublin, 2 daughters Catherine Johnston of Gray, and Madelyn Johnson of Elberton, a brother, Bernard Spivey of Milledgeville, and 3 grandchildren, Alan Johnson, Hiller Crook, Suzanne Johnson Barnett, and 3 great grandchildren, Will Faircloth, Johnson Barnett, and Spivey Lyn Barnett. Pallbearers will be Woodrow Thomas " Trey " Spivey, III, Phillip Bernard Spivey, Grant Rowe, Grady B. Pennington, John Lawrence Hall and Wendall Thigpen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
