Wilbur J. Cornell

Mr. Wilbur J. Cornell, age 85, a lifelong resident of Elbert County, died November 11, 2008.Born December 26, 1922 to his parents John W. Cornell and Lula Jane Maxwell, he was a Navy veteran, retired from Elbert County Police Department after twenty seven years of service.Mr. Cornell was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He is survived by his wife of sixty six years, Mrs. Martha Cornell; his son Ray and daughter in law Brenda Cornell; daughter Angela and son in law Doyle Anderson; grandchildren Kellie Smith, Christy Mozingo, Ashley Lord, Justin Fleming and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14th at 2:00 PM at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Elberton, Reverend Bill Lowe, Reverend Sam Hale and Reverend Bill Quarels officiating.Family will receive friends on Thursday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.Flowers or donations may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church.
