Willene Ogletree Simons

Mrs. Willene Ogletree Simons, 73, of 1103 Ruckersville Road, Elberton, widow of the late James Roy Simons, Sr., died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her home. Born on August 2, 1936 in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary Alice Bryant Ogletree. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Simons, Sr. and brother, Wayne Ogletree. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, David and Norma Simons, and James Roy and Carolyn Simons, Jr.; daughter, Alice "Sissy" Simons; brother, Ronnie Ogletree; and grandchildren, Nick (Carolyn) Simons, Brittany (Sean) Moore, Kai Simons and Cade Simons. A graveside service for Mrs. Simons will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 2:00 PM in the Elmhurst Cemetery. The family is at the home, 1103 Ruckersville Road, and will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday night, March 19, 2010 at Hicks Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. Mary’s Hospice. Hicks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Willene Ogletree Simons.
