William Channing Beucler, Esq. died the 27th of December, 2020, in Elberton, GA at the age of 101.
A prominent trial attorney, he was born in Cambridge in 1919, and served in the Air Force during WWII. Channing received an LLB and LLM from Northeastern University and was a special student at Harvard Law School. Mr. Beucler was a member of the Massachusetts Federal Bar and the U.S. Supreme Court.
He was Treasurer of the Cambridge Bar Association for over twenty years, as well as Past President of the association. Channing was a member of the Boston Legal Aid Society and DiMento and Sullivan. Founder and director of Cambridge Legal Services, Mr. Beucler was chief civil trial counsel for the Office of Attorney General of the Commonwealth.
He was Secretary-Treasurer and Director of Wall Street Management Corporation and Wall Street Planning Corporation. Channing was Assistant Secretary-Treasurer of Wall Street Investing Corporation and a partner of John H.G. Pell and Company Investment Advisors. Mr. Beucler served on the Cambridge Planning Board, Cambridge Community Federation, Cambridge Allied Veteran’s Council, State VFW Housing Chairman, and Chairman of March of Dimes.
He was the principal proponent for veteran’s housing in Cambridge. Channing was a former member of the Chappaquiddick Island Association. Mr. Beucler was a world traveller who was active in art, sculpture, poetry, stained-glass, and architecture.
He wintered in St. Peterburg, Florida and was most recently a resident of Magnolia Estates Senior Living in Elberton, Georgia.
He is survived by a son, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Harvard Square, Cambridge, and burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
