William Phillip Duncan

Mr. William Phillip Duncan, 82, of Elberton, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 in AnMed Hospital. A native of Starr, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Ester and Willie Yeargin Duncan, and was the widower of Geneva Pless Duncan.He was also preceded in death by two brothers, W.T. and W. L. Duncan, and sister, Parniece Brown. Mr. Duncan was a retired Pastor of Gaines Chapel Emmanuel Holiness Church, and had also worked in the granite industry as owner/operator of Duncan Granite Company. He enjoyed church, family, and gardening, with a special love of growing flowers. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Clyde Sanders of Hartwell; sons and daughter-in-law: Dennis Duncan of Elberton, Dean and Christina Duncan of Royston, and Brian Duncan of Elberton; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Sara Brown of Anderson, S.C.;and several nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Mr. Duncan’s life was held Thursday, April 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Pastors Larry Dyer and Lou Franklin officiating.Interment followed in the Gaines Chapel Emmanuel Holiness Church Cemetery.Serving as pallbearers were Barry Duncan, Chad Sanders, David Duncan, Patrick Duncan, Marlow Brown and Marshall Brown.Honorary pallbearers were Joey Brown, Alex Duck, and Terry Pless. A time of visitation was held on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gaines Chapel Emmanuel Holiness Church, 3297 Cokesbury Hwy., Hartwell, GA30643. Arrangements for Mr. William Phillip Duncan were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
