William Lawrence Scarborough

William Lawrence "Dit" Scarborough, 64, of 1142 Flatwoods Rd. Elberton died Monday February 1, 2010. Born in Elbert County, he was a son of the late Milford Filmore Scarborough Sr. and Leila Mae Barnes Scarborough. He was a member of Lake Russell Baptist Church, a retired top polisher from the granite industry, and a U.S. veteran serving in the Army Reserves. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Daniel Brown, son Lance Scarborough, sisters Janelle Thompson, and Kathleen McFarlin, and grandchildren Sonya Brown, Amy Brown, Autumn Scarborough, and Allen Brown. He was preceded in death by sisters Christine Johnson, and Pearl Scarborough, brothers Thurman Scarborough, Tody Scarborough, James Scarborough, and Milford Scarborough Jr. Hoarce Scarborough. Funeral services will be held Thursday February 4 at 11AM at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Jan Thompson and Rev. Jamie Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Bethel E Baptist Church. The family will be at the home of Lynn and Daniel Brown and will receive friends from 6-8PM Wednesday night at Berry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Stanley Smith, Dan Scarborough, Rod Johnson, Sandy Scarborough, Keith Scarborough, and Sonny Scarborough. Honorary pallbearers will include Chris Scarborough, Ed Scarborough, and Matt Scarborough. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made in his honor to TJ and Friends Foundation 1675 Deep Creek Road Dewy Rose, GA 30634.
