Willie Dye Simpson, 93, wife of the late Garol H. Simpson died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at NHC in Anderson. She was born in Elbert County, GA to the late George Jackson and Lollie McMahan Dye. Mrs. Simpson worked for many years at the Abbeville Shirt Plant. She then began work at the Sportswear Unlimited Plant in Antreville where she retired several years later. After retirement, Mrs. Simpson enjoyed home interior design, sewing and cooking. She was a 65-year member of Midway Baptist Church where she was involved in many aspects. Mrs. Simpson especially enjoyed assisting with Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and the women’s groups there. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings. Mrs. Simpson is survived by her daughter, Lana Simpson Willis and her husband, Joe, of Anderson; two grandchildren, Kris W. Miles, of Anderson and Tommy Willis and his wife, April, of Greenville; and four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jessica, Jared and Hannah. Graveside services will be 2:00PM Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the grave. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Simpson, may be sent to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to Midway Baptist Church, 1218 Highway 284, Abbeville, SC 29620.
