Mrs. Wilma Black Thomas, 78, of Comer Nursing Home, Comer, Georgia, passed away Tuesday the 19th of April 2011 at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston, GA. Mrs. Thomas was born in Elbert County Georgia to the late Willie F. and Annie Lou Mattox Black on April 25, 1932. She was self-employed as a caregiver. Mrs. Thomas is survived by two sons Billy Wayne (Cheryl) Thomas of Marion, S.C. and Robert N. (Cynthia) Thomas of Tucker, GA, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, brothers, Blue (Mary Ann) Black, Stewart (Ann) Black, Allen Black and Dwight Black, sisters, Barbara (Joe) Winn and Mary Ann (Denver) Worley all of Elberton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kelly Lovic Thomas and brothers Charles Black, Willie F. Black, Jr. and Melvin Black. Funeral services to celebrate Mrs. Thomas’ life will be held Thursday April 21, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in The Chapel at Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:30-3:30 prior to the service. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park following the service. The family is accepting flowers or memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 1030 Sunset Drive, Elberton, GA. 30635 or Emmanuel CollegeEducation Department, P.O. Box 129, Franklin Springs, Georgia 30639. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Denver Worley, 829 Cardinal Drive, Elberton, Georgia.
