Mr. Woodrow Abner Adams, 88, of Dewy Rose, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at his home. A native of Elberton, Georgia, Mr. Adams was the son of the late Tate and Bertha Rhodes Adams.He was retired from the textile industry, having worked at Elberton Mills. Mr. Adams served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.He was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Hall Almond Adams in 2013 after almost 60 years of marriage.He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Adams, two brothers, and three sisters.Mr. Adams was a member of the Stinchcomb United Methodist Church. Mr. Adams is survived by his daughter, Carol Adams of Dewy Rose; and three sons: James Adams of Dewy Rose, Billy Adams and his wife, Janet, of Bowman, and Bruce Adams and his wife, Shell, of Dewy Rose. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Crystal Davis (Bobby), Tim Adams, (Julie), Byron Adams, Brandon Harris (Denise), Miranda Evans (Alex), Tonya Adams, Melissa Holland (Stephen), Kyle Adams (Tabitha), Matthew Morris (Chizra), and Callie Gonzales; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shelby Gaines of Elberton. A service to celebrate Mr. Adams’ life was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Wright officiating.A time of visitation began at 1:30 p.m. just prior to the service.Entombment followed in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stinchcomb United Methodist Church, American Heart Association, or Wounded Warriors. Arrangements for Mr. Woodrow Adams were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
