Mr. Zackery William Counkle, Sr., 65, of Athens, husband of Josephine Counkle, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at his residence. Born October 24, 1947 in Bishop, Georgia to the late Tom Campbell and Fronie Counkle Brown. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Athens, Georgia, was a former supervisor for Kelley Diversified and a U.S. Army Veteran where he served during Vietnam. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Josephine Haynes Counkle; sons and daughters-in-law Zackery William Counkle, Jr. and Wendy of Winterville, GA; Travis Bernard and Dawn Dillard of Stone Mountain, GA; daughters and sons-in-law Felecia and John Lewis of Athens, GA; Latrina Michelle and Jessie Williams of Athens, GA; Zenia Veronica and Darrick Burgess of Bogart, GA; brothers and sisters Wayne, Laura, Lorenza, Richard, Hazel, Donald, Michael, Sandra, Stanley, Robert, Kenney, Robert Thomas, Stacy, Varnell, Elaine, Gail, Dwight and Dwayne, grandchildren Porsha Dillard, William Dillard, Jasmine Lewis, Faith Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Zipporah Williams, Tristan Burgess, Zakaya Counkle, Angelina Counkle and Nikki Starnes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father Richard Brown. Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held 2PM, Saturday October 26 at Coile Middle School, 110 Old Elberton Road, Athens, Georgia.
